Seeing His Signs
Many believed on his name, seeing his signs which he did ~John 2:23
Chapter Two
CHAPTER 2: VERSE 1
And on the third day a marriage took place in Cana of
Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there;
VERSE 2
…and Jesus also was called, and his disciples, to the
marriage.
VERSE 3
And they had no wine, because the wine of the marriage feast
had failed. Then said the mother of Jesus to him:
MOTHER OF JESUS
They have no wine.
VERSE 4
Jesus said to her:
JESUS
Woman, what have I to do with thee?
My hour has not yet come.
VERSE 5
His mother said to the waiters:
MOTHER OF JESUS
Whatever he says to you, do.
VERSE 6
And according to the purification of the Jews, there were
lying there six water vessels of stone, containing two or
three baths each.
VERSE 7
Jesus says to them:
JESUS
Fill the water vessels with water.
And they filled them to the brim.
VERSE 8
And he says to them:
JESUS
Draw out now, and carry to the
master of the feast.
And they carried it.
VERSE 9
But when the master of the feast had tasted the water that
had been made wine, and knew not whence it was, but the
waiters that drew the water knew, the master of the feast
called the bridegroom,
VERSE 10
…and said to him:
MASTER
Every man at the first sets out the
good wine.
…and when they have become drunk, the inferior:
INFERIOR
…thou hast kept the good wine
till now.
VERSE 11
This beginning of signs did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and
manifested his glory, and his disciples believed on him.
VERSE 12
After this he went down to Capernaum, he and his mother and
his brothers and his disciples, and they remained there not
many days.
VERSE 13
And the Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to
Jerusalem.
VERSE 14
And he found in the temple those that sold oxen, and sheep,
and doves, and the moneychangers sitting;
VERSE 15
…and having made a scourge of cords, he drove all out of
the temple, the sheep also and the oxen, and poured out the
money of the money-changers, and overturned the tables;
VERSE 16
…and to those that sold doves he said:
JESUS
Take these things hence; make not
my Father’s house a house of
merchandise.
VERSE 17
The disciples remembered that it is written:ZEAL FOR THY HOUSE CONSUMES ME.
VERSE 18
The Jews then answered and said to him:
JEWS
What sign showest thou to us, that
thou doest these things?
VERSE 19
Jesus answered and said to them:
JESUS
Destroy this temple, and in three
days I will raise it up.
VERSE 20
The Jews therefore said:
JEWS
Forty and six years was this temple
in building, and in three days wilt
thou raise it up?
VERSE 21
But he spoke of the temple of his body.
VERSE 22
When therefore he had risen from the dead, his disciples
remembered that he had said this, and they believed the
Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.
VERSE 23
But when he was in Jerusalem on the Passover on the feast,
many believed on his name, seeing his signs which he did;
VERSE 24
…but Jesus did not trust himself to them, because he knew
all men…
VERSE 25
…and because he had no need that any one should testify
concerning man; for he himself knew what was in man.
