They also may be in us, that the world may believe that thou didst send me ~John 17:21

CHAPTER 17: VERSE 1

These things spoke Jesus; and, lifting his eyes to heaven,
he said:

JESUS

Father, the hour has come: glorify
thy Son, that the Son may glorify
thee,

VERSE 2

JESUS

as thou hast given him authority
over all flesh, that to all that
thou hast given him he may give
them life eternal.

VERSE 3

But eternal life is this, that they may know thee, the only
true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

VERSE 4

JESUS

I have glorified thee on the earth,
having finished the work that thou
gavest me to do;

VERSE 5

JESUS

…and now, Father, glorify thou me
with thyself with the glory that I
had with thee before the world was.

VERSE 6

JESUS

I have manifested thy name to the
men whom thou gavest me out of the
world. Thine they were, and thou
gavest them to me, and they have
kept thy word;

VERSE 7

JESUS

…now they know that all things
whatever thou hast given me are
from thee;

VERSE 8

JESUS

…for the words that thou gavest
me I have given them, and they have
received them, and have known in
truth that I came forth from thee,
and have believed that thou didst
send me.

VERSE 9

JESUS

I pray for them; I pray not for the
world, but for those that thou hast
given me, for they are thine,

VERSE 10

JESUS

…and all mine are thine, and
thine are mine, and I have been
glorified in them.

VERSE 11

JESUS

And I am no longer in the world,
and these are in the world, and I
come to thee. Holy Father, keep
them in my name that thou hast
given me, that they may be one, as
we.

VERSE 12

JESUS

When I was with them I kept them in
thy name that thou hast given me,
and I have guarded them, and no one
of them is lost but the son of
perdition, that the Scripture may
be fulfilled.

VERSE 13

JESUS

But now I come to thee, and these
things I speak in the world, that
they may have my joy fulfilled in
themselves.

VERSE 14

JESUS

I have given them thy word, and the
world has hated them, because they
are not of the world as I am not of
the world.

VERSE 15

JESUS

I pray not that thou take them out
of the world, but that thou keep
them from the evil one.

VERSE 16

JESUS

They are not of the world, as I am
not of the world.

VERSE 17

JESUS

Sanctify them in the truth: thy
word is truth.

VERSE 18

JESUS

As thou didst send me into the
world, I sent them into the world;

VERSE 19

JESUS

…and for them I sanctify myself,
that they also may be sanctified in
the truth.

VERSE 20

JESUS

But not for these only do I pray,
but also for those that believe on
me through their word,

VERSE 21

JESUS

…that they all may be one, as
thou. Father, art in me and I in
thee, that they also may be in us,
that the world may believe that
thou didst send me.

VERSE 22

JESUS

And the glory that thou hast given
me I have given them, that they may
be one as we are one:

VERSE 23

JESUS

I in them and thou in me, that they
may be perfected into one, that the
world may know that thou hast sent
me and hast loved them as thou hast
loved me.

VERSE 24

JESUS

Father, as to what thou hast given
me, I would that they also be with
me where I am, that they may see my
glory, which thou hast given me
because thou lovedst me before the
foundation of the world.

VERSE 25

JESUS

Righteous Father, though the world
has not known thee, yet I have
known thee, and these have known
that thou didst send me;

VERSE 26

JESUS

…and I have made known to them
thy name, and will make it known,
that the love with which thou hast
loved me may be in them and I in
them.
