Lyrics
Howzit everyone? John Landt here. Thank you for joining me today. Welcome to VoiceCry episode 11. I like to share what God shares with me with you… Here we go.
I’ll be reading from The VoiceCry Gospels, its based on one of the oldest Bible manuscripts in the world – the Codex Sinaiticus.
Today I would like to talk to you about Isaiah Chapter 40 verses 3 to 5. What are the Isaiah 40: 3 to 5 verses saying? I want to start with the extraordinary introduction in the gospel of John chapter 1: verses 1 to 18. And they go like this…
1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through him, and without him came into being not one thing that is in being. 4 In him is life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not. 6 There came a man, sent from God; his name was John: 7 this man came for a testimony, that he might testify of the light, that all through him might believe. 8 He was not the light, but came that he might testify of the light. 9 That was the true light, which, coming into the world, gives light to every man. 10 He was in the world, and the world came into being through him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came to his own country, and his own people received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he the right to become children of God, to those that believe on his name, 13 who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of a man, but of God. 14 And the Word became flesh, and tabernacled among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 John testified of him and cried, saying: This was he of whom I said: He that comes after me has been advanced before me, because he was before me. 16 For of his fullness have we all received, and grace for grace; 17 for the law was given through Moses, the grace and the truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has made him known.
The beginning of the gospel of John announces the kingdom of God that comes down to us. A light that’s Holy & Righteous shines into the darkness of Sin & Evil. John testifies of the light shining into the darkness, and the darkness does not understand it. It’s only through God… you believe. Lets continue.
I am now going to read Mark chapter 1 verses 2 to 5
2 As it is written in Isaiah the prophet: Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way: 3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness: Make ready the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. 4 It was John who baptized in the wilderness and preached the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. 5 And there went out to him all the country of Judea and all they of Jerusalem and were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
The gospel of Mark shows us Gods Salvation. Through the voice of one crying out in the wilderness: Make ready the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. John baptizes with water in the Jordan River to confess their sins and repent for the remission of sins.
Lets take a close look at people who desired to be baptized by John in Matthew chapter 3 verses 7 to 11.
7 But seeing many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them: Brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? 8 Bring forth therefore fruit worthy of repentance, 9 and think not to say within yourselves: We have Abraham for a father; for I say to you that God is able of these stones to raise up children for Abraham. 10 And now the ax is lying at the root of the trees: every tree, therefore, that brings not forth good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire. 11 I indeed baptize you in water in order to repentance; but he that comes after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry: he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in fire:
It’s worthy to note water baptism is the representation of the fruit of repentance. And without any other exceptions the ax is at the root of the trees. A tree, that doesn’t produce good fruit (from repentance) is cut down, and thrown into the fire. John baptizes you in water in the order of your fruits of repentance; God baptizes you in the Holy Spirit.
Lets move on to read Luke chapter 3 verses 10 to 14 to know the fruits of repentance
10 And the multitudes asked him, saying: What then shall we do? 11 And he answered and said to them: He that has two coats let him give to him that has none, and he that has food let him do in like manner. 12 And publicans also came to be baptized, and said to him: Teacher, what shall we do? 13 And he said to them: Exact no more than that which has been appointed to you. 14 And soldiers also asked, saying: What shall we also do? And he said to them: Do violence to no one, accuse no one falsely, and be content with your wages.
The fruits of repentance gives, doesn’t take more money than you should, also no violence, no lying and to be content with your wages. Isaiah chapter 40 verses 3 to 5 shows us the Kingdom of God that comes down to us through salvation with the baptism of water which is the baptism of repentance and with the baptism of the Holy Spirit. God’s the light… to see
(NET Bible Isaiah 40:3-5)
3 A voice cries out, “In the wilderness clear a way for the Lord; construct in the desert a road for our God. 4 Every valley must be elevated, and every mountain and hill leveled. The rough terrain will become a level plain, the rugged landscape a wide valley. 5 The splendor of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it at the same time. For the Lord has decreed it.”
